Brazilian government recognises Cambridge English qualification for national science programme
Cambridge English: Advanced has been officially recognised as part of the Science without Borders (Ciência sem Fronteiras) programme, established by Brazil’s Ministry of Education and Ministry of Science, Technology and Innovation.
Science without Borders gives grants for Brazilian students who wish to study science at top international universities and research institutions, a key part of the country’s strategy for modernisation. Up to 101,000 grants will be awarded over four years for undergraduate and postgraduate students and for researchers based in Brazilian companies seeking specialised training abroad.
As part of the programme, applicants need to prove that they have the language skills they need to succeed in higher education outside Brazil, and Cambridge English: Advanced has been formally accredited for this purpose, initially for students who wish to study in China or Ireland.
Cambridge English: Advanced provides an in-depth evaluation of the candidate’s skills at an advanced level across all four language skills – listening, speaking, reading and writing – and is designed to help students improve their level of English. The exam is focused at a high level and provides an in-depth assessment rather than just a ‘snapshot’ of language ability. It is specifically designed for students who need to use English in higher education or professional life. The exam is available in 130 countries and recognised by more than 3,000 universities, employers and government agencies worldwide.
